I can't tell you how excited I am about Author Quest! June camp is full! We've been working hard all year long, and this past week has been super-busy. I've hardly had any time to write. (I didn't write a thing yesterday, and that's unusual.) We've got another busy couple of days: today, we're going to pick up some last-minute supplies and take them over to the camp. David LaRochelle is flying in from Minnesota tonight, and Dwayne Harris is flying all the way from Montana. Tomorrow, authors, counselors, and staff will arrive at camp for training day. Much of the day will be spent going over details, but most of us are very familiar with the program.
My writing workshop will be totally different this year, and I'm really geeked about it. Can't wait to share it with our Author Quest campers!
Weather has been changing constantly. It's like summer hasn't even arrived, yet. We've had a couple of really nice days, but the rest have been a bit chilly, cloudy, and rainy. At first, forecasters said that this entire week was going to be sunny and mild. Now, they're calling for cloudy skies and showers for the rest of the week. If you're coming to camp this year, keep that in mind. It won't be steamy-hot like it was last year . . . but you can bet we're going to have a great time regardless of the weather.
Like last year, my journal page will be updated daily during camp. This year, however, will feature video every day, along with still pictures. Check back often!
There are still a few spaces open for August Author Quest. Like our June camp, August *will* fill up. If you don't want to miss out, get your application and your essay in right away.
As you can see on the main page, American Chillers #24: Haunting in New Hampshire and Freddie Fernortner, Fearless First Grader Book 8 have arrived at Chillermania! I stopped in yesterday and signed some of them. Look for them to be arriving in stores within a week or so.
And, as you can also see on the main page, American Chillers #25 is called Mississippi Megalodon. It's about a giant, prehistoric shark! I have a few more rewrites and revisions, so it's not quite done yet. I'm hoping to have a little time during Author Quest to work on it. Freddie Fernortner, Fearless First Grader book 9: Attack of the Dust Bunnies from Outer Space! is done, and will be published later this summer.
All for now. Next update will be tomorrow night (or early Thursday morning) with daily updates for the duration of camp. Campers begin arriving Thursday morning. If you're one of them: welcome! Get ready for four days of writing fun . . . and a few cool surprises!
Best wishes, happy reading, and . . . WRITE ON!
