As I write this, we are on Interstate 69, just south of Fort Wayne, Indiana. I know I mentioned in my last entry that I'd update the site from Lafayette, Indiana on Saturday. Well, we didn't stay in Lafayette, we stayed just south of Fort Wayne. And after the long drive yesterday, I didn't have the energy to update my journal page. Now, Mrs. Chillers is driving, and Lily Munster is convinced there is a bone hidden behind a box of books in the back of the van.
The rest of our week went great. We visited Scales Elementary, Bradley Academy, and Pittard Elementary . . .

As you can see, Lily Munster was right at home during our school visits . . .

The first thing Lily Munster found at Bradley Academy was a group of teachers eating lunch! Lily Munster's motto is "All Food is Mine."

When we visited Bradley back in May, Kayla gave Lily Munster some toys and treats. She surprised Lily again this year . . .

The highlight of the week, however, was the world premiere of American Chillers #21: Terrifying Toys of Tennessee at Hobgood Elementary! Several hundred people from numerous schools dropped by. Here are only a few highlights; staff photographer Mrs. Chillers was so busy at the book table that she didn't have time to take many pictures. However, we had several friends promise to send us some of their pictures, so I'll do another update soon and post more pics . . .

Being interviewed for a television news story . . .

Jessica, a sixth grader at Hobgood, drew this awesome cover of Terrifying Toys of Tennessee . . .

Lily Munster hung out behind the book table . . .

Here's my friend and big Chiller fan Josh Grantz . . .

. . . with his sister Kyla and Dad Richard . . .

Thanks to EVERYONE for another fantastic visit to Murfreesboro, Tennessee! It was great to see old friends at meet new ones. A very special thanks to Mrs. Roediger for all of the 'behind the scenes' work she did to make our week happen. Thanks to the students, staff and teachers at Hobgood Elementary for all their help on Friday night. (And, of course, one more special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Roediger for their awesome southern hospitality!) We're headed home for a busy week. I have a live, one-person performance on Friday night in Rogers City, Michigan, where I'll be reading a one hour story on stage. It's fairly new book I've written about vampires. It's so scary, however, that it's only for people ages 12 and up. If you're in the area and are interested in attending, call the Presque Isle District Library for more information at (989) 734-2477.
Update: 11:03 am: We've stopped at Beaner's Coffee in Marshall, Michigan, so I'm able to update my journal from the road. I love technology!
As you can see on the main page, American Chillers #22 is complete and will be available in November. In fact, I'll be speaking at a bunch of schools in New Jersey in November, so the book is coming out at a perfect time. I'm nearly finished with #23, too. Any guesses as to what it is? (Hint: it's another book about dinosaurs!)
And thanks for checking in!
Best wishes, happy reading, and . . . WRITE ON!
