DAY TWO OF AUTHOR QUEST!
The official camp photo. We didn't know it until later, but the mysterious dog man was also watching . . .

Mr. Bauer and part of his family. (A note to Mr. & Mrs. Bauer: extra-special thanks for your help!)

The lake is as smooth as glass in early morning . . .

A morning writing workshop outdoors . . .

Dr. Mike's workshop . . .

Ann's workshop at the picnic tables . . .

Sharing stories . . .

Harper finds a snakeskin!

David's workshop . . .

In the afternoon, campers and counselors piled into a big bus and traveled the short distance to Ocqueoc Falls to cool off!

Bombs away!

Just hanging out in the falls . . .

Ocqueoc Falls was a blast! Everyone had a great time. When we returned to camp, the fun continued with a little bit of free time before dinner . . .

Author David LaRochelle played a good game, but he was no match for these three young ladies . . .

Author Dr. Mike hangs out with Logan . . .

Sharing more stories on the hill overlooking the lake . . .

In the evening, authors were treated to something really special: a close-up look at 3 birds of prey! Alison from See-North came out and talked about raptors. Everyone got to see these birds up close and personal. Here's Alison with a red-tailed hawk . . .

Eyes were glued to Alison and her birds . . .

Earlier in the day, Kailyn was injured in a speed-reading accident, when she tripped on a comma. It hasn't kept her from having a great time . . .

A screech owl . . .

A barn owl . . .

The barn owl spreads his wings . . .

Many thanks to Alison and See-North for a fantastic presentation, and a breathtaking, up-close look at these majestic birds!
Then, it was time to share more stories around the campfire. I've known Genesis since she was eight, and she's a fantastic writer. It was great to have her at Author Quest . . .

Author David LaRochelle looks on and listens . . .

. . . and told a story of his own! David is a fantastic storyteller, and everyone was mesmerized . . .

The evening concluded with songs around the campfire. It was a fun day, and everyone was really tired. But there's still one day left! What's in store for Saturday? You'll have to check back to find out!
Please note that the next update will be after the conclusion of Author Quest on Sunday. Parents, families, friends, don't forget: Author Quest graduation is at 9 a.m. Sunday. Hope to see you there!
